STORMZY: Gang Signs and Prayer – Short Film for YouTube

A visual testament to Grime sensation Stormzy’s life and upbringing, “Gang Signs & Prayer” — a film titled after the award winning debut album of the same name — was directed by Rollo Jackson and presented by YouTube with the mission to paint an immersive portrait of the artist. Blending dramatic narrative and stunning live performances, the film provides a unique experience that sets out to amplify the genre of grime music and shed light on the struggles of growing up in the hood. While chronicling Stormzy’s inner battles and perseverance, the film strives to empower the next generation of young black artists and beyond. 

With over 2M views on YouTube to date, the film received accolades in the New York Times, Billboard, MTV, UK’s Evening Standard, as well as tastemaker outlets like Complex, Nowness, DIY, i-D, and more. BBC called it “moving and compelling,” and MTV called it “incredible.”
